WE(N)EED FIRE AND MUSIC

After the show in Louisville, Kentucky, Wenzl was dancing with a girl in the audience, totally oblivious to the fact that an angry ex boyfriend was eager to get into a fist fight.

After the situation became quite heated, we decided it was best get the hell out of there. Since we had no place to stay, we were forced to camp out in the deserted, cold woods of Kentucky, put up a tent, and make a bond fire. We were a little freaked out by all the strange noises coming from the depths of the dark forest. The sound of anything from falling tree branches to wind whistling through the trees to unidentifiable animal grunts was constantly diverting our attention. But, we did manage to distract ourselves with some chilled out music by the fire. Music and a warm fire… an amazingly comforting and relaxing combination. The stressful evening was followed by an extremely fun night, leaving us with beautiful memories.

We woke up to the sun light piercing through thin cloth of our tent.

The positive energy from the previous night´s music was still flowing through our veins, which made the car drive to St. Louis go by rather quickly. Or, maybe the fact that we were passed out the entire time had more to do with that… We arrived at the Old Rock House to find that we did not have enough time for a sound check, because another band was booked to open for us. We were on stage ready to introduce the pounding kick drum but there was no bass on the channel, and as a result, we failed to make the bodies of our audience shake. A good friend of ours hooked us up with a sweet place to sleep.

In the morning, we woke up to eggs, bacon and pancakes. What a pleasant surprise!

After some pasta, we are ready to go on stage in Lawrence, Kansas, a beautiful college town with beautiful vibes.

After our show, we had a few beers and hung out with the locals. In the green room we carved our name into the wall so we could be remembered...

After leaving the club, we checked out a local bar where young people hang out for James´ Birthday.

There was nothing going on so we came back to the hotel room to get some sleep.

Now we have the day off and it´s Halloween!!!

Another crazy (2) day

Yesterday, the internet was down at the venue, so today, we´re posting two days of excitement. Two days ago we were in Charleston, South Carolina. We played a really fun show at a cool venue called Music Farm.
(Videos of the showTomorrow)

The town was really beautiful and had really beautiful people in it! After the show we hung out, listened to Mike Doughty´s set and met another really cool couple that invited us to their place.

Their house was really well decorated with cool art.

Of course, to Mike´s amazement, they had a dog!

Luckily he was not affected negatively by his dog allergies and could sleep like a baby.

Mike and James stayed in their abandoned attic. They drearily stumbled up the stairs and had to avoid ropes used to dry out peanuts. This was a very difficult task. In the morning, the 4 of us went hunting for a new exciting spot to shoot a video. We came upon a cool bridge/road and decided it would be a great place to shoot!

The previous day we were practicing our new song, ¨Milk and Waffles¨ in the car.

This is us preforming it on the abandoned road. After we finished the song James freaked out and got naked while walking away. After calming him down, we hit the road again, this time to Atlanta, Georgia.

We arrived in Atlanta a little late, so we did a quick sound check and grabbed a quick bite to eat, right before playing an extremely fun show.

Later in the night, Mike, fueled by the residual energy of the show and 6 shots of espresso, gathered enough courage and stamina to drive to Louisville, Kentucky (an 8-hour drive from Atlanta) by himself, while James, Wenzl, and Edu slumbered.
We arrived in Louisville at 8 a.m. to a surprisingly rambunctious Mike.  It was only a matter of time before he finally collapsed.  Mike slept in the car in the morning while James, Wenzl, and Edu read and did other stuff at a cafe. By noon, we drove to Jefferson Memorial Forest about a half hour away from the venue.  While Mike continued to sleep, the others made a fire and played music together next to a lake.

Now we are all fully awake and getting ready to play tonight´s show.

Black Widow Whisperer

Black widow whisperer!

After the show, we were invited to spend the night at James´s girlfriend´s close family friend Kate´s house in Carrboro.

When we arrived at her house, we pulled into the garage, neglecting the fact that we had an overhead cargo carrier, and to everyone´s embarrassment and amusement, became sandwiched in the garage!

Using methods of trial and error, we managed to devise a genius plan that freed us from the wrath of the unforgiving situation..  We lowered the pressure in the back tires, and had several people stand on the back bumper while backing up the car, and then everything was cool…

With minimal damage to the garage, and no damage to the car, we could finally relax.  We spent the next hour drinking some beer and talking about life and music with Kate and her good friend Chris.  They were (are) so cool…

The next morning, we took to the road and drove by many cotton farms.

We decided to play music at one exceptionally beautiful one, and during the middle of a tune, Mike freaks out because he sees a black widow spider walking towards Wenzl´s feet.

After analyzing the humble beast, James realized that the spider actually had supernatural transcending powers.  He thanked the spider for its offerings and proceeded to eat it.  After about an hour or so, James began to feel the effects of the spider´s hallucinogenic chemical composition.  Then, he took a drum solo.  Check it out!

When we returned to the road,
Mike, still startled from the encounter with the spider, slaps his balls when he notices an insect of some kind on his groin.

After stopping the highway and analyzing the situation we decided it would be smart to take a little break. We pulled off onto a random South Carolina exit and chilled for a bit. Now were back on the road with James, the spider whisperer, behind the wheel.

When we arrived in Charleston, we were starving after running from spiders all day. We set up our stuff at the Music Farm and went to get some eggplant parmesan!

This town is really beautiful and warm. Now were hanging out in the green room editing videos with Edu (the man behind the pics and videos)  and listening to James practice tabla. The sound at this venue rocks and were really looking forward to the show tonight.
